国际不再恐同日(International Day Against Homophobia,简称IDAHO或idahomophobia),日期为5月17日。

The International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHO) is celebrated every May 17 around the world.

It is coordinated by the Paris based "IDAHO Committee" founded and presided by French academics, Louis-Georges Tin. It is celebrated in more than 50 countries in the world, and recognised officially by the European Union, Belgium, United Kingdom, France, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Mexico, Costa-Rica, etc.

Louis Georges Tin at the 5th Minsk LGBT Conference, organized by Gayrussia.ru and Gaybelarus, in Belarus on Sept 26, 2009. The international day against homophobia aims to coordinate international events to call respect for lesbians and gays worldwide. Unlike the LGBT Pride Day, which is meant to emphasise proudness of one's sexuality and refusal to be ashamed of it, IDAHO is held to highlight:

“ "... that in reality it is homophobia that is shameful and must be deconstructed in its social logic and fought against openly."

May 17 was chosen as the day of the event because homosexuality was removed from the International Classification of Diseases of the World Health Organization (WHO) on May 17, 1990.

In 2003 the Canadian organization Fondation émergence instituted a similar event, the National Day Against Homophobia, on June 1; in 2006, they changed it to May 17, to join the international movement.

In 2006, the IDAHO Committee launched a petition "for a universal decriminalisation of homosexuality". Many people signed, including several Nobel Prize winners (Desmond Tutu, Dario Fo, José Saramago, Elfriede Jelinek, Amartya Sen), many high profile politicians (Jacques Delors, former president of the European Commission), Thomas Hammarberg (High commisionner of the Council of Europe), many artists (Meryl Streep, Cindy Lauper, Elton John, David Bowie, etc.), many intellectuals (Judith Butler, Bernard Henri Lévy, etc.)

In 2008, for the IDAHO may 17th, the French government decided to bring in the text in the General Assembly of the United Nations. It became a declaration on sexual orientation and gender identity, supported by 67 states on December 18. It was the first time ever in the UN General Assembly.

Much movement towards reaching these goals has been made achieved by the French government, particularly by Human Rights Minister Rama Yade. Working closely with the Netherlands, the French government convened a World Congress on Human Rights, Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity on May 15, 2009.

For 2009, the IDAHO campaign was mostly focused on transphobia, i.e. violence against trans' people. The IDAHO then became the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia. A new petition was launched, in conjunction with other LGBT organisations, and it was supported by more than 300 NGOs from 75 countries, by 3 Nobel Prize winners (Elfriede Jelinek, Fran?oise Barré-Sinoussi, Luc Montagnier). And on the eve of the 2009 IDAHO day, France became the first country in the world to officially remove transgender issues from its list of mental illnesses.

For 2010 and 2011, the IDAHO campaign proposed by Louis-Georges Tin will be about religions. The idea behind is to ask religious leaders not what they think about homosexuality or trangenderism, but what they think of homophobia and transphobia, if they approve or disapprove of violence against LGBT people.
